Bare Solar Cells

Our triple-junction space-grade bare solar cells are high-efficiency photovoltaic devices designed for operation in the space environment, based on a gallium arsenide (GaAs) substrate with epitaxially grown triple-junction semiconductor layers.

The cell structure consists of three monolithically stacked p-n junctions with progressively decreasing bandgaps; InGaP (top junction), GaAs (middle junction), and GaAs (lower junction). Electrically connected in series via tunnel junctions to maximize energy conversion across the solar spectrum.

The GaAs substrate provides excellent lattice matching, high radiation tolerance, and superior thermal and mechanical stability compared to silicon-based devices.

Delivered in bare-cell form without coverglass, interconnects, or encapsulation, these cells are intended for subsequent assembly processes such as tabbing, diode integration, and coverglass bonding.
